A Weekend in Singapore

I spent a long-weekend exploring the modern, multicultural utopia that is Singapore. Although the city itself is often referred to as 'sterile', there are plenty of diverse neighborhoods, such as Little India, Chinatown and Arab Street, that demonstrate the perfect blend of Indian, Chinese and Malaysian cuisines and cultures, making you feel like you've conquered all three places in one stop. Little India was especially lively during my stay due to Diwali season, quickly shaming the Little India of Toronto, with night markets and copious amounts of delicious Indian food on offer. However, if you're looking for a more pristine experience, Sentosa Island, Orchard Road, Marina Bay and Clarke Quay are all a stone's throw away and offer great options for shopping, dining or simply strolling through the city.

This city-state is home to some of the friendliest people, cleanest streets and best food of any place I've ever travelled. I had zero issues navigating the city, Ubers are aplenty, streets are uncrowded and English is widely used and understood- all of which were quite the contradiction to Hong Kong. There was not a single thing I could find wrong with Singapore apart from the lack of seasons and constant humidity. So, if that isn't a concern for you, make sure your next Southeast Asia trip includes a stop in this urban paradise.
