Welcome to Mykonos

Well-known as the most lively and cosmopolitan of the Greek islands, Mykonos is one of the most popular destinations in the Cyclades. Although this was one of the shortest stops on the trip, in about two days we were able to get a feel for what this island is all about.

Mykonos town is a maze of winding streets and snow white boutiques selling everything from Greek flags to Louis Vuitton bags. Although the streets were relatively calm during the day, with most people opting for the beaches along the coast because of the heat, the town became alive at night. Bars and restaurants are around every corner and as the World Cup was coming to an end, every patio was packed with cheering fans from around the world. Not recommended for those seeking a calm and quiet stay in Greece, Mykonos is best described as Eastern Europe's answer to Ibiza. With a certain energy to the island, a constant buzz and feeling of excitement everywhere you went, Mykonos is the perfect island for anyone seeking sun-soaked days on the beach and partying until dawn.
